COVID-19 Resources

In response to the evolving circumstances regarding coronavirus, we want to share the current status of the Division of Biokinesiology & Physical Therapy’s course offerings. Through these difficult times, our primary focus is with our students and ensuring their safety and that their educations are not interrupted despite the disruptions affecting daily life. To that the end:

Program Status

The Division has leveraged its experience with online teaching and continues to conduct all scheduled classes, without interruption, but with some modifications. Specifically, classes are being taught online for students in both residential and hybrid pathways of the DPT program, as well as in the PhD and MS programs. In-person laboratory teaching and clinical education placements have been postponed.

Our Strategy

We are working closely with our technology partner to optimize our students’ learning by taking maximal advantage of our resources, infrastructure, and experience developed for our hybrid pathway.

  • Continuing instruction: Our programs are able to support student learning from virtually anywhere. Live classes are being held daily in online Zoom classrooms. Students are able to meet with one another and professors online at any time, and faculty are trained to teach in the online environment.
  • Digital Campus: The digital campus developed for the hybrid pathway of the DPT program is now being used to support learning, connection, and collaboration among students and faculty in the residential pathway as well. The Division has been able to continue delivering the high-quality learning experiences it’s known for using interactive, high-quality video content, optimized for online learning and delivered using the technology platform developed for our hybrid pathway.
  • Ongoing Support Services: USC’s admissions, student success, and clinical education teams are continuing to work closely with students. Our admissions teams are continuing preparations for the incoming Class of 2023 and are available for questions and inquiries. Class of 2023 hybrid pathway classes will start as planned on June 22, 2020. Class of 2023 residential pathway classes are scheduled to start as planned on August 24th, 2020.
  • In-Person Learning Experiences: In-person learning and clinical education are cornerstones of the USC DPT experience. In-person experiences are currently postponed and will restart when a return to the campus and to clinical sites is determined to be safe. This decision will be made by the USC administration and the leadership of the Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy based on best available evidence.
